So I had new gears put in 4.88 and had the guy redo the rear drum brakes because the Jeep feels like its losing power...like its having to work through the brakes sticking. The rear wheels will be warm to the touch after driving it. So after the mechanic did the gears and brakes...its still doing it. Web8 ott 2010 · 84 Answers You need to have it taken apart and cleaned. If it has drum breaks in the rear try replacing the shoes and spring hardware kit. If its pad and disc then try replacing the pads and possibly the calipers. Its very common for drum breaks to stick on this vehicle more so if it has sat for any length of time. Web24 feb 2012 · Not much to it if you chose to rebuild it and by rebuild I mean take it apart, clean it carefully, lube the o-rings with some clean brake fluid and put it back together. That will solve 99.9% of the problems with the TJ combo valve. Another thing you can check is to see if the dash light for your brakes is on when the parking brake is not applied. This is actually a good thing in the short term as the pads and rotors are getting very worn after nearly 4 years of driving. I just had the rear pads and drums replaced before Christmas and they noticed them then.
